Bachelor of Animation Year 3

JAMES OSIPOV
I am a2Dand3Dartist that focuses on anime styles and media, as well as an amateur writer planning to publish a novel. Since I was young, I have always been interested in trying to create, drawing friends and family, and writing pages of fantastical stories. It was only when I discovered modeling and animation that I began to see what I really could create. From there, I wanted to make a career of sharing my worlds and vision with others in hopes of inspiring and entertaining.
In the future, I plan to create and explore worlds in my mind through the avenue of 2D and 3D art and animation. To actualize my and other’s ideas has always been a big dream of mine, and through the continued development of my skills, I hope that my work can reach a wide audience and inspire others to imprint their ideas on the world.

Emergent Proposal Angel Character
A character developed for a proposed project. An angel fallen from heaven, gazing up to see the clouds shut them out of the place they once called home. It was a lot of fun to draw the wings, as well as the layered shading of the forest they fell into.

Investigative Robot Concept
For my investigative project, I aimed to tell a story about a robotic servant gaining sentience, as a way to explore how robot characters can show emotions and empathy, despite their metal shell. The humanoid appearance lends to a human element, but the body is modeled after a mannequin, making sure their robotic side is still prevalent.

Investigative Employee Concept
During my investigative project, featuring robotic characters, I looked to have a relatable human character that acted as both the instigator and the foil for their newly sentient robot partner.

Modeling and Lightning Final Render
This is the final render of a Maya project to recreate an environment found in an animated film. This project was really fun because I was able to train my modeling, lighting, and texturing skills as I attempted to emulate a hand drawn image, actualizing it as a 3D model with textures and lighting.

God's Game Character Comparison
This was a personal project called ‘God’s Game’ that I was encouraged to develop and turn into an animatic. One of my favorite parts of creating stories is exploring the designs of the characters and how they can express their personalities. For instance; the male character, Mikael, is more reserved, leading to a more covered appearance with a lot of pockets to hide things. The female character, Erika, is more open and robust, little frills and an unrestrictive outfit.

Religious Symbol Model
For the capstone project at the end of the bachelors, I was in a group project to create an interactive game about cultists, puzzles, and investigations. One of the amazing things about games is the ability to tell a story through the environment and objects placed around. This is a religious symbol of the cult based on celtic symbols, the writing featuring the words ‘lamb’, ‘rule’, ‘faith’, and ‘hope’.

Geo and Eny Project Shot
Oneof myfirst animated stories was about two young boys playing in their backyard, imagining awesome scenes of ancient battle, and the more subtle, but equally as awesome, detective scenes. In this shot, one of the boys imagines himself as a suave and calculating detective for hire, on the hunt for evildoers and ne'er do wells that lurk in dark alleyways.

Geo and Eny Project Office Scene
Another scene from my first short film. One of the fun parts about the animation was bringing the scenes to life with the environment and shading. To capture the Noir black and white idea, the need for a shuttered office scene was practically required.
